Being a network administrator is no easy task. It requires a lot of attention and patience to make every computer on the network work as it should. Fortunately, setting up a network can be piece of cake if one uses the right software for this job. Although there are dozens of programs on the market that promise to make the network administrating task easier, these programs actually lack a lot of useful functions that any administrator may want. An alternative to the majority of software on the market is LanHelper. Judging by its intuitive name, the software was designed to help a network administrator perform the required tasks easier than ever.

The program installs in a flash and has a point and click installation process that can be completed by most users, even if they are beginners. It supports any versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system, from XP to Windows 7. It occupies little hard disk space and it's system resources friendly.

The interface of LanHelper has a lot of options and features that can be easily accessed either by using the classical top menu or by clicking the graphical buttons from the toolbar. A network administrator can perform numerous network tasks using LanHelper, like scanning a range of IP addresses, to make sure that every computer is correctly configured to be visible on the network. Once a network computer is found by its IP address, various tests can be performed on it, to make sure there are no network problems.

The list of IP addresses found on the network can be saved as a HTML file, to allow the user know which computers should respond on a future scanning. Besides that, all the program's settings can be saved as a XML file, to be reused later. A log file containing all the actions performed using the program can be viewed or saved, allowing the user to see if there were any problems during testing.

Pros

It allows scanning the entire network for IP addresses, making sure that every computer has correct network settings. Besides that, numerous tasks and tests can be performed using the found IP addresses. A log file is created, containing every action performed by the user, helping him see if there were any errors. Moreover, the list of found IP addresses can be saved as a HTML file.

Cons

Beginners will have a hard time understanding the functionality of this software, as most of the options are complex and require some basic network knowledge. LanHelper is the perfect tool for thoroughly testing the functionality of a computer network.
